U.S. Marshals Fugitive of the Week Surrenders

Concord, NH - The U.S. Marshals Service – New Hampshire Joint Fugitive Task Force is very pleased to announce that the "Fugitive of the Week" for October 12, 2022, David Scott Grose, was arrested in Canaan on Wednesday.

Grose, 60, was wanted out of Grafton County Superior Court for failing to appear on a June 6 court hearing in relation to drug charges, but he also had an outstanding arrest warrant out of Biddeford, ME. Grose has an extensive criminal history in New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine, to include assaultive behavior, sex crimes, drug activity, theft, resisting arrest and escape charges. He is currently being held without bond.

Grose was last known to live in Canaan, but multiple attempts to locate him were unsuccessful. After being featured, the public provided many leads that suggested Grose was attempting to leave the area. However, around 5 p.m., Grose turned himself in to the Canaan Police Department. Deputy U.S. Marshal Andy Grillo said, “This case is a great example of how being featured as the Fugitive of the Week can tip the scales of social pressure and make an otherwise unwilling participant in the justice system reconsider their non-compliance." Grillo continued, "Having someone take responsibility by turning themselves in is ideal for their safety, public safety and the safety of the law enforcement officers that are searching for them."

As part of this feature as the "Fugitive of the Week," Grose had been aired on WTPL-FM, WNTK-FM, WTSN-FM, WEMJ-FM, The Union Leader, The Nashua Telegraph, The Patch, Foster's Daily Democrat, Manchester Information, the Manchester Ink Link, the Rochester Voice and prominently featured on the internet. The "Fugitive of the Week" continues to be a very successful tool that has resulted in the location and arrest of numerous fugitives since its creation in 2007. Additionally, the "Fugitive of the Week" was distributed statewide to all law enforcement officers in New Hampshire.

The U.S. Marshals Service is thankful to the Canaan Police Department and the relationship between their investigators and the New Hampshire Joint Fugitive Task Force. Combining the unique resources, intelligence networks and expertise of local and federal agencies forms the competent system of enforcement expected by the public we serve.

Since the inception of the U.S. Marshals - New Hampshire Joint Fugitive Task Force in 2002, these partnerships have resulted in over 8,542 arrests (Updated as of 12/31/2021). These arrests have ranged in seriousness from murder, assault, unregistered sex offenders, probation and parole violations and numerous other serious offenses. Nationally the United States Marshals Service fugitive programs are carried out with local law enforcement in 94 district offices, 85 local fugitive task forces, 8 regional task forces, as well as a growing network of offices in foreign countries.
