U.S. Marshals, Berkley County SWAT Arrest Malicious Assault Suspect

For immediate release

Martinsburg, WV – The U.S. Marshals Mountain State Fugitive Task Force, working with the Berkley County Sheriff’s Office SWAT, today arrested a Martinsburg man wanted for a November 2023 malicious assault.

Oliver King had been charged with two counts of malicious assault and burglary resulting from a incident involving a stabbing in the 600 block of 2nd Street Nov. 7, 2023.  

On Feb. 23, the Martinsburg Police Department requested the assistance of the the U.S. Marshals Mountain State Fugitive Task Force in locating King.  

When U.S. Marshals investigators developed information March 29 that King was staying on Kilbourne Avenue with a family associated with a recent Loudon County, Virginia, homicide suspect, they requested assistance from the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team in apprehending King.  

King was located at the residence and taken into custody without incident. He is is being held at the Eastern Regional Jail in Martinsburg.

“This is another example of how the partnership between the U.S. Marshals Service and our state and local agencies make our community a safer place to live,” said Terry Moore, acting U.S. Marshal for the Northern District of West Virginia. “I’m thankful for the response of the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team and their seamless operation, which led to the safe apprehension of this fugitive.”
