Two Fugitives of the Week Back in Custody

Concord, NH – Last week's featured "Fugitive of the Week," John Robert Wentworth, III, 31 years-of-age surrendered to members of the U.S. Marshals – New Hampshire Joint Fugitive Task Force and the Strafford County Sheriff's Office late this afternoon in Rochester, New Hampshire. Mr. Wentworth was being sought on two outstanding arrest warrants including a parole violation stemming from an original conviction and sentence for burglary, as well as a Strafford County Superior Court warrant for bail violations on a cocaine charge.

Wentworth had been featured as the "Fugitive of the Week" this past Wednesday, October 21, 2020. This feature was aired on WTPL-FM, WMUR-TV, The Union Leader, The Nashua Telegraph, The Patch, Foster's Daily Democrat, Manchester Information, the Manchester Ink Link, the Rochester Voice and prominently featured on the internet. Additionally, this "Fugitive of the Week" was distributed statewide to all New Hampshire law enforcement officers.

A short time after Wentworth had been featured as the "Fugitive of the Week," multiple tips were received pointing a couple of locations in Rochester, New Hampshire. The New Hampshire Joint Fugitive Task Force did multiple interviews and surveillance today, which led to Wentworth calling and arranging for his surrender. Mr. Wentworth surrendered to the task force and was transported to the Strafford County Jail for processing and holding pending his initial court appearance.

Additionally, "Fugitive of the Week," James Scott Brooks, 30 years-of-age was arrested by the Rochester Police Department on October 13, 2020 after allegedly fleeing from law enforcement on multiple prior occasions. Mr. Brooks was being sought on an outstanding arrest warrant issued by the Strafford County Superior Court warrant for bail violations on narcotics charges and theft by unlawful taking (x2).

Brooks had been featured as the "Fugitive of the Week" on Wednesday, August 12, 2020. This feature was aired on WTPL-FM, WMUR-TV, The Union Leader, The Nashua Telegraph, The Patch, Foster's Daily Democrat, Manchester Information, the Manchester Ink Link, the Rochester Voice and prominently featured on the internet. The "Fugitive of the Week" was also distributed statewide to all New Hampshire law enforcement officers.

The "Fugitive of the Week" continues to be a very successful tool that has resulted in the location and arrest of numerous fugitives since its implementation in 2007.

Since the inception of the New Hampshire Joint Fugitive Task Force in 2002, these partnerships have resulted in over 8,061 arrests (Updated as of 06/30/2020). These arrests have ranged in seriousness from murder, assault, unregistered sex offenders, probation and parole violations and numerous other serious offenses. Nationally the United States Marshals Service fugitive programs are carried out with local law enforcement in 94 district offices, 85 local fugitive task forces, 8 regional task forces, as well as a growing network of offices in foreign countries.
