U.S. Marshals Arrest Alabama Man Wanted for Assaulting Officer

Jackson, TN – U.S. Marshal Tyreece Miller today announced the arrest of William Blake Michael who was wanted in Limestone County, Alabama for assaulting a Law Enforcement Officer. The assault charges stemmed from a November 2019 incident in which Limestone County, Alabama Sheriff's Deputies attempted to arrest Michael on an outstanding Probation Violation warrant. During that incident Michael allegedly attempted to run over one of the deputies with a vehicle, then dragged another deputy who was attempting to get him out of the automobile.

Yesterday officers with the Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force located Michael at a convenience store in Savannah, Tennessee. Officers said Michael attempted to flee and then fought with them when confronted. Michael was taken into custody after a brief struggle, and officers say they also located a handgun and homemade suppressor during the arrest. Michael was taken to the Hardin County Jail to await extradition to Alabama. Officers say Michael may also face additional charges in connection with the firearm and suppressor.

"This violent fugitive has been on the run for a year," said U.S. Marshal Tyreece Miller. "His assault history on law enforcement, and the fact that he was armed with a firearm and suppressor presented a dangerous situation for the team. We're pleased with this capture."

The Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force (GCRFTF) has offices in Tennessee, Mississippi and Alabama. The West Tennessee office consists of Deputy U.S. Marshals, Investigators with the Jackson Police Department, Agents with the Tennessee Department of Correction, Investigators with the Memphis Police Department, Shelby County Sheriff's Office and Fayette County Sheriff's Office.
