Murder Suspect Arrested in Philadelphia

Philadelphia, PA — The U.S. Marshals Service arrested a double-murder suspect in Center City Philadelphia earlier today.

At approximately 11:20 a.m., members of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force arrested Timothy Taylor, 35, in the 1100 block of Chestnut Street in Philadelphia. Taylor is the suspect for the May 13th murder of a woman in Brooklyn, N.Y. and the May 28th murder of a woman in Schenectady, N.Y. Taylor is also the subject of 3 criminal contempt warrants issued by the Schenectady, New York, City Court. 

U.S. Marshals in Philadelphia received information Taylor may have fled to Philadelphia on Wednesday May 31st. A search of suspected locations Taylor may be hiding was conducted for two days. This morning, at 9:30 a.m., members of the fugitive task force received information Taylor may be in Center City, Philadelphia. Areas Taylor was thought to be hiding were saturated by members of the task force as well as Philadelphia Police units. At 11:20 a.m., a male resembling Taylor, wearing a hoodie, bandanna over his head, and sunglasses, was observed sitting at a bar in the 1100 block of Chestnut Street. The male was surrounded by deputy U.S. Marshals and task force officers and positively identified as Timothy Taylor. Taylor was then taken to Philadelphia Police Headquarters for processing as a “Fugitive of Justice.”                  

Eric Gartner, United States Marshal for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania stated, “Our thoughts are with the children who suffered through this horrific domestic violence, and hope they find some semblance of peace and closure in Taylor’s arrest.” 

The Eastern Pennsylvania Violent Crimes Fugitive Task Force is a team of law enforcement officers led by U.S. Marshals in Philadelphia and the surrounding counties. The task force’s objective is to seek out and arrest violent crime fugitives. Membership agencies include the Philadelphia Police Department, Pennsylvania State Parole Officers, Pennsylvania State Police, Pennsylvania Attorney General Agents, Chester Police Department, and Bucks County Sheriffs.
