U.S. Marshals Arrest Isaiah Murchison in Fredericksburg, VA

Washington, DC – The U.S. Marshals Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested District of Colombia fugitive Isaiah Murchison at a residence in the 1700 block of Lafayette Boulevard in Fredericksburg, Virginia, at approximately 8:15 p.m. Thursday.

Murchison is one of 11 people indicted by a grand jury in June 2019 in the shooting death of 10-year-old Makiyah Wilson, who was killed in July 2018 while trying to buy ice cream in her Northeast D.C. neighborhood. Murchison was charged with first-degree murder and is a known member of the Wellington Park crew.

Other agencies involved in the investigation and arrest include the U.S. Marshals Special Response Team, U.S. Marshals Special Operations Group, the ATF, the U.S. Attorney's Office, the FBI, Fredericksburg Police, Virginia State Police, and the DC Metropolitan Police Department.

In July 2019, the U.S. Marshals offered a $20,000 reward for information leading to Murchison's capture, and the case received widespread media coverage, including being featured in each episode of the first season of A and E's "Live PD: Wanted."

Ultimately, several tips were generated that proved helpful to the investigation. Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force developed information this week that led them to the Fredericksburg address where they also found three other associates, one of whom, Joshean Stokes, was arrested for possession of pills recovered by a Fredericksburg narcotics detective.

"This collaborative effort demonstrates our tenacious commitment to seek justice for victims of brazen violence perpetrated by those with little or no regard for the safety of others. It is our sincere hope that the arrest brings with it some level of comfort to Makiyah Wilson's family and some sense of justice to the community at large."

Murchison is being held in Rappahannock Regional Jail awaiting a fugitive extradition hearing Tuesday morning.
